Brigl & Bergmeister

B&B whets the appetite for strong brands

B&B will be represented at Drinctec with its own exhibition stand and product innovations, as Europe’s largest manufacturer of wet glue label papers.

(Niklasdorf, 6.7.2005) When Drinktec, the largest international trade fair for the beverage industry, opens its doors this year from 12 to 17 September in Munich, B&B will be represented with its own exhibition stand and product innovations, as Europe’s largest manufacturer of wet glue label papers.

Fully focused on the beverage industry

One in four bottle labels in Europe is already printed on label papers from the factory in Niklasdorf, in the Austrian province of Styria. Almost all leading beverage manufacturers in the world, of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, are to be found on B&B’s customer list.

The requirements for label papers are extremely exacting. The demands come both from marketing and from printing and labelling technology at the filling lines, where technical advance is unrelenting.

The label as the silent salesman on the shelf

Brands compete on the shelf. That is where labels and packaging have to bring their full potential to bear.

“Look at me”, “Touch me”, “Feel me”, “Buy me”, that is the dynamic of buying today. (Matthias Horx)

Even the simplest products of daily use are “experienced” through their packaging and hence their labelling. This is where the shopper makes contact with the product. B&B label papers address these issues, and are now among the best in the world.

B&B has two locations

Brigl & Bergmeister GmbH is part of the Prinzhorn Holding. In addition to the factory in Niklasdorf, Austria, the company has another factory in Vevce (Ljubljana), Slovenia.

Over recent years, the company has pursued a focused policy of concentrating on producing label papers and flexible packaging papers. As a result, both factories are technically well equipped, and production has been steadily increased. The company’s turnover grew by more than 7% in 2004, which is far above the growth rate of the Austrian paper industry, and was moreover achieved against the backdrop of a difficult economic climate.

The workforce totals 650 over the two locations, has a high level of education and training, and is highly motivated. In the Austrian factory alone, B&B offers an average of 10 young people a year the opportunity to train for interesting careers such as paper technician, chemical laboratory technician, mechanical engineer, electrical systems engineer, industrial administrator or computer analyst. This secures the company’s competitiveness, and is also a key to its success.
