B&B is shutting down papermaking machine 4 in the Papirnica Vevce works in Slovenia at the end of June 2009. This is a small papermaking machine producing about 20,000 tonnes of uncoated graphic paper a year.
Papermaking machine 4 is now uncompetitive in the long term on the graphic uncoated paper market, which is dominated by very large, high-speed machines, most of which are integrated.
The present economic situation has forced B&B to undertake some restructuring, and this step moves towards concentration on our core business - label papers and flexible packaging papers. These core segments will not be affected by the shutdown.
Brigl & Bergmeister GmbH is part of the Prinzhorn Group, and focussed on the production of label papers and flexible packaging papers at two locations:
Brigl & Bergmeister located in Niklasdorf in Styria, Austria.
Papirnica Vevče located in the Laibach region of Slovenia, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of B&B.
