Niklasdorf, June 2010
On 12 May, the winners were chosen from among hundreds of entries submitted for the Golden Label Award. In a second jury session that will be held shortly before the awarding ceremony on 17 June, the final ranking of the gold, silver and bronze awards and other distinctions will be determined.
Evaluation of a label’s marketing performance
This criterion evaluates the advertising effectiveness of a label.
- Is it able to perform its tasks of attracting attention, arousing curiosity, conveying information to a sufficient degree?
- Does the label successfully communicate the character of the product it stands for, and is it able to evoke in the consumer emotions such as familiarity, surprise or humour?
A group consisting of four marketing and design experts evaluated these factors and chose the winners as outstanding examples in the various product categories.
Evaluation of technical implementation in printing and design
The second jury group – also consisting of four experts – evaluated the technological sophistication in label production, including innovations in terms of printing methods, colours and embossing, on the one hand. Implementation of special features and level of difficulty, balance in material and printing were further criteria examined by the experts in this group, who were equipped with a magnifying glass and a sharp critical eye.
International field of participants at Golden Label Award competition
In addition to the large number of winners from Austria, Germany and Switzerland again this year, we saw also a superior performance by participants from Great Britain, France and the Netherlands. It is also a highly positive development that we even have winners from African and South-American countries, which indicates that also in these countries competition is increasingly based on high-quality packaging.
Awarding ceremony in Vienna / Platinum Vienna (Uniqa Tower) on 17 June
It is the seventh time that Brigl & Bergmeister has organised the Golden Label Award competition: the aim of the most important paper label competition world-wide is to provide a platform for promoting creative spirit and innovation in the sphere of paper labels.
Appropriate media coverage will ensure that the winners of this award are given the opportunity to attract the attention of international packaging and marketing experts with their performance.
